Lost Bullet 2 | Netflix

Features

Role: Editorial Trainee

About: I shadowed Editor - Sophie Fourdrinoy, 1st Assistant Editor - Celine Neveu and Director - Guillaume Pierret on the post production of Lost Bullet 2 (Balle Perdue 2).

This involved observing the working relationship between the Editor and Director and learning the important technical role of the 1st Assistant Editor. I also attending test screenings, and gave my input on performance selection, pacing, and music.

While observing the work 1st AE I gained greater understanding and experience of: Avid Media Composer, Avid NEXIS Server, ingesting, project set up, bin/sequence organisation, syncing, grouping, marking, logging, sequence prep for online and exports for online/VFX.

For one of the major car stunts the editor felt the scene wasn't running smoothly so I was given the opportunity to create a few assembly edits (variations of the sequence) so I could suggest different ways of cutting the scene. I am thrilled to say that some of my ideas made it into the final cut (scene below).

I learnt a lot about the process of editing drama and the workflow on a Netflix production - and am looking for more opportunities like this.

After the positive impression I made on Lost Bullet 2, I was recently invited back for further assembly editing training on the sequel, Lost Bullet 3. Over 5 days I assembled a 2-minute car chase sequence from 6 hours of rushes shot across 16 cameras. Through this experience I improved my skills in: Avid Media Composer, grouping, multicam, adding temp SFX/music and exporting playouts.
